2009.07.04 STRIKE! ;)

Desperately needed to blow some steam. Thank God for my friends being "game" on a Saturday night. :) It was already 7PM, but we finally decided on something to do: dinner + bowling! Got to MOA around 7:30-8:00, met up with Kat, Wilex, Jay, Eliel, Kuya Renwick, and Chino. Originally, we wanted to eat at Gerry's Grill, but it was full. So ate at Dampa instead. Yummy food! The place was... hot, loud, and confusing. But it didn't really matter, we talked, ate, and laughed a lot. :)

After dinner, we went to check if the bowling lanes were still open. They were! ...til 12MN. So we played a couple of games. Just a comment on everyone's game:
  • Eliel - fancy pose, with spin, tires easily!
  • Jay - gay shot! (10kph?!) but somehow, it's effective!
  • Kat - soft shot, but Jay's was still softer.. lol :P
  • Wilex - power shot, lots of 9s
  • Chino - even more powerful shot, but the direction is towards the gutter!
  • Billy - lame straight shot, tried to learn with spin, only one strike!

We really had a blast. Again, laughed a lot.. really at everyone's misfortune. :)) Funny story about my only strike of the night. Before the game began, I told them that I really wanted to score a strike even just for once. A few times I came close, but really couldn't. Come the 2nd to the last frame of the 2nd game.. I posed and prepared to shoot. As I was running through the lanes, Kat suddenly shouted "Billy, si Riva oh!". Then*poof* I scored a strike! hahaha!

In the end, I scored a measly 88 :c (see the rest of the scores above)

Then, we left MOA using 3 cars (mine, Eliel's, and Chino's). Went to drop off Yza and proceeded to Caltex Starmart at Chino Roces. This place is becoming our little "tambay" spot (because of Eliel's pseudo-unlimited gas card). There, we bought ice cream, chips, and water. We played cards, bluff and heart attack.

Highlights of the night: Queens. During bluff, we made our own rule to remove the cards face down if we were able to complete all instances (e.g. 4 Qs). Before we even began, Eliel got 4 Qs and placed it down. During Chino's turn, he bluffed "isang Q". Obviously, it was a bluff and Eliel busted him! At the same time, he showed the collected 4 Qs. After literally 2 seconds, it was Jay's turn. Without thinking, he said "isang Q"! LOL. =)) laughed our asses off.

3AM and everyone's sleepy. Went our separate ways. Just for kicks, I decided to time my travel time from Caltex to my house. I left at 3:04AM, got home at 3:21AM. 17 minutes.. :D speed rush! :)

Next week: poker at Eliel's?

2009.07.03 Motorcycle down

Actually forgot where this happened, but as I was driving along some street, I saw an accident scene where a motorcycle was laying flat on the ground. (It's actually a lot worse than it looks) But again, boring stuff.

2009.07.02 Eliel is "changing the rules"

For weeks, Eliel has been excited to "change the rules" (quoting his soon-to-be new car's tagline). The weekend passed by, but he was still car-less. But today is the day! He excused himself from work and claimed his brand new "bading beige" Honda City! :P Here's a picture of the keys.

If you want to hear a funny story, just ask him about his encounter with the thermal scanner! ;)

2009.07.01 Insect on my windshield

I was just about to drive off when I noticed something on my windshield. It's a dead bug, or so I thought. In an effort to remove it from my windshield, I sprayed water to activate the car's wiper. To my surprise, however, it was still alive! At least for a couple more seconds before my wiper killed it. Sorry, bug.

On a side note, I hate how lame the macro feature of my phone is. I can't take nice close-up pictures of anything. :(

2009.06.30 DLSAA newsletter

Got my first DLSAA newsletter. Boring really, didn't even bother reading it.

2009.06.29 Pillow-less

Remember my trip to Trinoma yesterday? Well on our way back home, it rained.. hard. And it just so happened that our maid decided to put our mattresses and pillows on the roof to sun-dry them (even though they weren't really washed - don't ask me, I don't get it either). When we got home, they were still at the roof. Only, instead of being sun-dried, they were soaking wet!!! >.< Luckily, I was using my favorite pillow (a down pillow Riva gave me a while back) when the other pillows were taken to the roof. Really love that pillow.

We ended up sleeping without any mattresses and pillows for 2 nights! Thank God for folding beds, throw pillows, and sofas.

2009.06.28 Shopping for a watch

Been wanting to buy a watch since... Grade 6! T_T Went to No Curfew in Trinoma and basically narrowed my choices to a couple of Tommy watches. Really didn't know which to buy between the 2. So I ended up buying, neither. :| Actually saw the black watch in MOA within the same day, and to my surprise, there was an additional 20% off! But a friend of mine said that it wasn't that nice, so I decided to save my money for better watch.

Oh well, the watch shopping continues. Hope I can buy one by the end of this month.

2009.06.27 Basketball

Played basketball, and realized I really need to work on my endurance. Nothing special really, I just like the shot with the shading/lighting or whatever. :)

2009.06.26 Gotcha!

On my way to work, I almost got caught along Makati ave. for driving/counter-flowing on the 3rd lane. Fortunately, I saw the cop waiting at the corner and quickly swerved back to the 2nd lane. Too bad for the driver of this Revo who wasn't as lucky.

2009.06.25 Overheat

I was driving our old Lancer a.k.a "scrap metal" (kidding! I love that car). When suddenly I noticed the temperature gauge going higher than usual. To my surprise, the engine overheated. At one point, it nearly reached the red zone. :| Had to stop at the side of the road a few times. Hope it gets fixed, I don't want to commute to work!

2009.06.24 Random song

As I left the house, I got into my car, turned the key to start it, then plugged my FM modulator expecting to hear Fall for You (by Secondhand Serenade) to play since it was the first song in the playlist. Surprisingly, it didn't.

The first song: Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy.

2009.06.23 Choosing Veronica is a mistake

I know this isn't a photograph I took, but I think it's worth posting. A friend informed me days ago that in latest edition of Archie, he proposed! And as it appears to be (I really think there will be a twist), he proposed to the wrong girl, Veronica. "...and she's going to make his life miserable. he'll always be falling short of her expectations."

For the record, I'm not that affected with the comic book series. Sometimes, things are simply not what they appear to be.

2009.06.22 Yummy bun

It was an ordinary day at work until Eliel came in and placed a piece of bread on his table. I quickly reacted noting that the table was dirty. Turns out, it was only a stuff toy. But here's the catch: it looks real, feels real, and even smells real! So real that at one point, when it was placed beside his laptop, it felt so warm and yummy that a hungry me might even be tempted to take a bite!

2009.06.21 Scraaaaatched!

After 5 years of spotless driving, I scratched a car! >.<' buu..

2009.06.20 Tail shots

What's with cars not having plates these days? If these were new cars, I'd probably understand, but an old Honda City and an old Lancer GLX? Weird, especially to see 2 instances in one day.

As a bonus, I saw (and tailed, or at least tried to) a Nissan GTR on the same day! =P~

For those who don't know, I often tail fancy sports car just so I can take pictures of them. I still have to find them, but I'm pretty sure I have pictures of an Eclipse, 350Z, Porsche, and a Ferrari. :)

2009.06.19 Thermal scanner

Because of the recent AH1N1 scare, the building I work at has become stricter in terms of health checks. Now, before we enter the elevator lobby, we are required to sanitize our hands and take our temperatures. What was interesting, however, was the fancy device they used to measure our temperatures. Instead of normal thermometers, they used a thermal scanner! Basically, they just point it on your forehead, pull the trigger, and *poof* there's your temperature! :D Amazed, I quickly took a picture of it.

As Gosh and I were discussing in the elevator, how cool of a parent would you be if you used a thermal scanner to get the temperature of your ailing kid? ;) I want one!

2009.06.14 Mahjong madness

My uncle's in town from Cebu, which means that there's weekly mahjong at the house! Ever since I was a kid, I really enjoyed watching my dad play with my uncles and aunties. I remember always wanting to play even though I really didn't know how to compute nor did I know how to play with points (what I knew back then was the Filipino version, "tumba-tumba")

Today, they lacked 1 player. Guess who was ready, willing, and able? ;) Finally was able to play mahjong with them! And believe it or not, I fared pretty well against them. :D I won a lot (relatively, since we play small pot) during the first round. But I'm starting to think it was only beginner's luck as I lost the next couple of rounds, with me nearly losing all my chips in the last round. For the record, I blame my seat position and feng shui for the lost!

2009.06.18 A music box

The first time I saw a music box was in Singapore. Instantly, I was amused by it. I even thought of selling these as a business (seriously, to that point that I already found a vendor). Back to the story. This actually isn't mine, I borrowed it. Why? Partly to see the person, partly to show it when I surprise another person, partly just to keep myself busy, and partly just to play with it. Whatever the reason, this thing is, plain and simple, amusing... it's exquisite yet fun.

Just for fun, whoever can guess what song it plays gets a treat from me. (No, you're not allowed to guess!)

2009.06.17 Who says you can't stare at the sun?

On my way to the office, I got a little stuck in traffic along Coronado ave. (near the Makati-Mandaluyong bridge). While the car was still, I suddenly noticed the sky.. it was uncharacteristically bright! I wanted to stare at the sun (a sight that seems so rare nowadays). But it was TOO bright. So what else was I suppose to do? Use the tinted rain gutter of course! ;)

For reference, here's a picture of the sun without any "filters"

2009.06.16 The shoes that started it all

Who would have thought that a pair of waterproof (still wet) Rockport shoes would inspire me to blog again?!

It was pouring hard, hesitantly I left the office. I had an umbrella to shelter me from the rain.. or so I thought! While I was walking along Makati ave. heading towards the A. Venue parking lot, I realized that my umbrella was useless. I got wet, and so did my shoes. Then I thought, "I'll take a picture of this when I get into the car and probably tell this story to Marj". It was a long walk, so eventually "tell a story" became "blog about it". And here it is.

Got into the car, took off my shoes, took pictures of it, and drove barefoot.

For the record, not one drop of water reached my socks. I love those pair of shoes.

2009.06.15 The lost moth

I hate Mondays, especially THIS Monday. It was a pretty gloomy day with what has transpired; plus the non-stop drizzle didn't help. But right when I was about to go home, something interesting happened: I saw a moth inside the elevator! How it got there? I have no idea. So don't ask.

2009.06.13 It's time

I couldn't sleep the entire night, thoughts filled my head. When I decided to get up from bed, questions still lingered in my mind. I went down, first thing I saw was the newspaper, laying on top of the dining table. The headline read, "Time to say goodbye".

...interesting.

Hello World

Testing this out. :) This is to describe the supposedly interesting picture above. blah-blah-blah
